Akka's Alcove

Akka's Alcove is a student mentorship and hangout program within the Silambam Houston community. The name draws on akka — elder sister — the warm, approachable figure younger students turn to for guidance, encouragement, and a sense of belonging.

• Host regular virtual and in-person sessions where students can ask questions, share experiences, and connect outside of class.
• Offer peer mentorship on rehearsal prep, performance nerves, arts-school balance, and navigating Silambam's programs.
• Build community among Arts Academy students — fostering the vibrant, supportive culture Silambam describes as a family.
• Create a low-pressure space for emerging artists to find their voice and build confidence alongside their training.
